Why do I leak urine after having a baby?

1 in 3 Women Leak urine after having a baby.

Stress urinary incontinence (leaking urine when coughing, sneezing or laughing) is the most common type of incontinence.

It can be caused by weak Pelvic Floor muscles, which cannot counteract the increased intra -abdominal pressure when one coughs, sneezes or laughs.

Pelvic Floor muscles can be weakened by:

  • Pregnancy (9+ months of increased pressure & weight on the pelvic floor)
  • Repetitive coughing
  • Delivery mode (vaginal delivery +/- tearing, episiotomy, forceps, vacuum)
  • HIIT
  • Heavy Lifting
  • Chronic Constipation
